Success at the US box office
Currently, moviegoers are hardly over at Disney. The industry giant dominates the box office with “Star Wars” and superhero films. But the company can of course also animated, as now “Incredibles 2” on the start weekend proves.
Record at the North American box office: “Incredibles 2” has recorded 180 million dollars (155 million euros) on its first weekend. This is more than any other animated movie before. The production of Disney and Pixar put even the eighth best start of film history, as the “Hollywood Reporter” reported. The film is about a superhero family trying to reconcile their everyday lives with their superhuman powers.
The success in the US, however, is overshadowed by a discussion on health risks: Disney called on the US media, the cinemas to warn their visitors of the light effects of production. This warning was preceded by a thousandfold shared tweet in which a US blogger pointed out to people with epilepsy or migraine that they might be having trouble watching “Incredibles 2”.
